On the afternoon of May 23, the Kien Thuy District People’s Committee held a conference to publicly announce the 1:2000-scale zoning plan for Tan Trao Industrial Park (phase 1) and the 1:2000-scale zoning plan for Ngu Phuc Industrial Park (phase 1).

Under Decisions No. 1538 and No. 1540 of the City People’s Committee, Tan Trao Industrial Park (phase 1) covers approximately 500–550 hectares, including areas inside and outside the dike, of which 252.1 hectares are included in the planning study area. Ngu Phuc Industrial Park covers approximately 450–500 hectares, including industrial-park areas inside and outside the dike, of which the current area studied for the phase-1 industrial-park plan is 238.6 hectares.

The industrial parks are located within the administrative boundaries of Ngu Phuc, Tan Trao and Kien Quoc communes, adjoining agricultural land, residential areas and important transport routes such as the road connecting Provincial Road 354 to the coastal road and the alluvial area along the Van Uc River. The industrial parks are generally oriented toward multi-sector industry, eco-industrial development, high technology and supporting industries. Industrial production and warehouse land accounts for a high proportion, from 69% to 72.83%; the remainder consists of service land, specialized green space, technical infrastructure and roads. Infrastructure is planned in an integrated manner, including a power substation, wastewater-treatment system, parking area and administrative zone.

The development of these two strategic industrial parks aims to expand the city’s economic space southward. It will also create momentum to attract investment, develop production and generate jobs in the peri-urban rural area.

At the conference, Luu Van Thuy, Deputy Secretary of the Kien Thuy District Party Committee and Chairman of the Kien Thuy District People’s Committee, requested that in the coming period the relevant localities focus on effectively and extensively communicating planning information to residents, and strictly manage land and construction order in the planned area. They should also coordinate to prepare properly for site clearance and resettlement. The City Economic Zone Management Board should coordinate with departments and sectors to soon mark the planning boundaries, creating favorable conditions for local land management work.
