Attending the event at Point 01 were Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defence; Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of the Hai Phong City National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Danh Huy, Deputy Minister of Construction; Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Committee; Le Anh Quan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee; Dao Trong Duc, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Chief of the City Party Committee Office; and leaders of city departments, committees, sectors and localities.

Leaders and Vingroup leaders cut the ribbon to inaugurate May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge).

The May Chai Bridge (Royal Bridge) and its approach roads form part of the Vu Yen Island Entertainment, Residential and Ecological Park Project (Vinhomes Royal Island) in Hai Phong. Nearly 2.2 km long and 21 m wide with four lanes, the bridge begins on Vu Yen Island and ends at the intersection with Le Thanh Tong Street, reducing travel time from the island to the city centre to less than five minutes. In addition to opening the route, Royal Bridge is a new symbol of Hai Phong, with a distinctive design: the two bridgehead towers form curved arches that suggest birds spreading their wings and create a “World Gateway Bridge”, a friendly invitation to outstanding investment and business opportunities in the region.

Chairman of the City People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau speaks at the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the City People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau stressed that Hai Phong’s simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of nine key projects at six connection points in fields including transport, aviation, healthcare, culture and social welfare affirmed the determination of the city’s Party organisation, authorities and people to successfully implement the 13th National Party Congress Resolution and the 16th City Party Congress Resolution.

The Chairman affirmed that the projects would not only help complete a modern infrastructure system, promote socio-economic development and improve people’s lives, but also expand urban space, strengthen inter-regional connectivity and gradually affirm Hai Phong’s position as a driving centre for development in the Northern region.

The Chairman acknowledged and warmly commended investors, consultants and contractors for upholding the spirit of “working through the heat and rain, three shifts and four teams”, working through holidays and Tet and without days off to accelerate progress and ensure project quality. He also highly valued the close and effective coordination of departments, sectors and localities in enabling the projects to break ground and open according to schedule.

With the tradition of “the cultured Eastern Land – the heroic Port Land” and a spirit of innovation and creativity, the Chairman expressed confidence that the projects inaugurated and launched today would not only vividly demonstrate Hai Phong’s strong aspiration to rise, but also provide a solid foundation for building a green, civilised, modern, smart and sustainably developing port city and making a worthy contribution to the country’s overall development./.
