On September 23, Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HTIT), a member terminal of the Hai Phong Port system, successfully received the MSC KALINA container ship operated by MSC. It is the largest container vessel ever to call at the Lach Huyen deep-water port cluster, marking an important advance in handling capacity and affirming HTIT Port’s position on the international maritime map.
Accordingly, the Panama-flagged MSC KALINA has impressive specifications: an overall length of 366.06 m, a draft of 12.2 m when alongside and a deadweight of 162,867 DWT, equivalent to 13,798 TEUs.

Over the years, Hai Phong Port has continuously renewed itself, invested in infrastructure, modernised equipment and applied digital technology to improve handling capacity and service quality. In particular, the operation of Lach Huyen berths 3 and 4 marked an important turning point, affirming the position of a new-generation international gateway port capable of receiving large mother ships and directly connecting with trans-Pacific and Asia–Europe services.
Nguyen Tuong Anh, General Director of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, said the company’s development strategy for Hai Phong Port would remain firmly focused on expanding investment in port infrastructure, particularly at Lach Huyen and Nam Do Son, to prepare for the trend toward large container vessels.

The strategy also includes developing modern, integrated logistics services; forming an integrated and sustainable logistics ecosystem centred on customers; accelerating digital transformation; applying artificial intelligence and smart management; and developing a “green port, smart port” model in line with global trends.
