(HPĐT) – On the afternoon of January 3, the Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Industry and Trade Sector Trade Union, held a conference to review 2024 work and implement tasks for 2025. Attendees included Bui Duc Quang, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Council; Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee; and representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Industry and Trade Sector Trade Union, and relevant city departments, sectors, and units.
At the conference, Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong recognized and praised the Industry and Trade sector’s efforts and results in 2024. To successfully carry out the 2025 plan assigned by the city People’s Committee, he asked the sector to focus on resolving difficulties for businesses; continue administrative reform to facilitate business operations; and ensure sufficient, continuous, and stable electricity for production and business. The sector should also restructure itself, improve the quality of growth, focus on industrial-park and industrial-cluster infrastructure, and prepare the best conditions to welcome new investment flows to the city. It should develop modern, smart, and sustainable industry as a key pillar of the city’s economic growth, with high-tech industry as the priority.

The Vice Chairman also asked the Industry and Trade sector to strengthen market management before, during, and after the Lunar New Year; promote the campaign encouraging Vietnamese people to prioritize Vietnamese goods; and bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas. It should implement the city’s trade development strategy, focus on commercial infrastructure, and advise on solutions for developing traditional markets. In coordination with central ministries and agencies, especially the Ministry of Industry and Trade, it should research and propose procedures and plans to build the Red River Delta Regional Industrial Development Support Center and the city’s Renewable Energy Industry and Services Center. It should promote exports of high-value-added goods, diversify import and export markets, effectively exploit markets covered by new-generation free trade agreements signed by Vietnam, and develop logistics services linked to goods, exports, imports, and domestic trade. New logistics centers should be attracted in accordance with the planning. The sector should also effectively implement international integration activities and continue improving the administrative reform index and the people’s satisfaction index for services provided by the Department of Industry and Trade.

In 2025, based on practical conditions and development capacity, the Industry and Trade sector set the following targets: industrial production growth of 17% compared with 2024; goods export turnover of USD 37 billion; goods import turnover of USD 32 billion; and total retail sales of goods and consumer-service revenue of VND 250.2 trillion./.
