At the beginning of the Ất Tỵ Lunar New Year 2025, on 3/2, the city of Thủy Nguyên held the 2025 Ất Tỵ Spring Tree-Planting Festival at the Central Political–Administrative Square in the new North Cam River urban area.
Attending the launch ceremony were Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Committee; Do Manh Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee; and leaders of several departments, sectors, agencies and Thủy Nguyên City.
Thủy Nguyên City currently has more than 1,300 hectares of forest, concentrated mainly in the communes of Ninh Son, Lien Xuan, Bach Dang and Quang Trung, and wards including Thuy Duong, Minh Duc, Hoa Binh, Tran Hung Dao, Thuy Ha, Ngu Lao and Quang Thanh. More than 1,288 hectares meet the criteria for forest, and forest coverage is 4.92%. This is considered significant potential and a comparative forestry advantage of Thủy Nguyên over many other localities in Hai Phong. In particular, several hilly forests in Minh Duc and Thuy Duong wards and Bach Dang Commune are scenic sites, historical relics and prominent tourist destinations. Some forested hills adjacent to the centers of Thuy Duong and Minh Duc wards also have great value in creating an ecological landscape and have become ideal locations for sports and eco-tourism activities for residents.
At the launch ceremony, Thủy Nguyên City leaders asked departments, agencies and localities to continue broadly communicating the purpose and significance of the Tree-Planting Festival, as well as the comprehensive and long-term role, benefits and humanistic value of planting and protecting forests. They also requested reviews and adjustments to planning, plans for planting trees and forests linked to agriculture, tourism and green, civilized and modern urban development; effective implementation of annual tree-planting plans; proper care after planting; forest protection and fire prevention; active participation by officials, Party members and residents; and practical, effective tree-planting festivals that meet requirements for structure, species and quality while avoiding display, formalism and waste.
On this occasion, city leaders presented gifts to officials and workers at the construction site in the new North Cam River urban area, Thủy Nguyên City.
