On April 28, 2025, joy erupted in the port city of Hai Phong when the State President signed Decision No. 766/QD-CTN, conferring the noble title “Heroic City” on the Hai Phong Party Committee, administration and people. This historic milestone records the city’s outstanding contributions throughout the struggle for national liberation, the building of socialism and the defense of the Fatherland.
Hai Phong – a vibrant port city where a steel-like spirit and resilient determination burn brightly – has affirmed its pioneering position through glorious pages of history. From resistance wars against foreign invaders to its role as an economic locomotive with industry, seaports and trade, Hai Phong has always been a source of pride for the entire country. The title “Heroic City” is vivid proof of the city’s brilliant achievements and the solidarity and creativity of its people.
In particular, the event took place on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2025), like a meaningful gift that rekindles pride and provides fresh motivation for the city to reach farther. With this prestigious title, Hai Phong is committed to making a strong breakthrough and pursuing the goal of becoming a modern, internationally scaled industrial city in the spirit of Politburo Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW. The whole country is looking toward Hai Phong, where powerful ocean waves blend with a vibrant rhythm of life and an aspiration to rise. The title “Heroic City” is not only an honor but also an inspiration for Hai Phong to continue shining and contributing to the development of the North and the entire country.
