The historic month of May returns, bringing deep emotion and boundless gratitude as we celebrate together the 135th anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025). In this solemn atmosphere, Vietnamese people in general and Hai Phong residents in particular feel immense pride in him, the nation’s brilliant leader and beloved father.
Ho Chi Minh – A life devoted to the country and the people:
During these historic May days, the heart of every Vietnamese person turns to him with infinite gratitude and reverence. Whenever May arrives, the entire nation relives this sacred atmosphere, filled with boundless pride and love for Uncle Ho.
Although Uncle Ho passed away more than half a century ago, his great revolutionary cause, luminous thought and pure moral example live on in the heart of every Vietnamese person. He embodied the aspiration for independence and freedom and symbolized solidarity, steadfast will and boundless compassion.
From Nguyen Sinh Cung in the simple Sen Village, to Nguyen Tat Thanh with his great aspirations, then Nguyen Ai Quoc bringing the light of revolution to the nation, and finally Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of the entire nation: each name marked a milestone in his arduous yet glorious journey. Major historical events such as submitting the demands at the Versailles Conference, founding the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League, establishing the Communist Party of Vietnam and directing the establishment of the Vietnam People’s Army remain forever engraved in the heart of every Vietnamese person.
In 2025, on the 135th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s birth, people throughout Vietnam and friends around the world celebrate his birthday together, revisiting his valuable lessons and noble deeds. This anniversary is an opportunity for us to reflect on his great example and learn from and follow his morality and style.

The program was a heartfelt musical offering to President Ho Chi Minh. Audiences experienced a sacred and proud emotional journey connected by two artistic sections, “The Light That Guides the Way” and “An Era of Rising.” Nearly 15 meticulously staged performances featured songs that have accompanied generations, including the instrumental piece “Firmly Following the Party – Footprints Ahead,” the medley “The Party Flag – With Every Step We Love Our Homeland More – The Flag – Youth Devoted to the Party,” “Uncle Ho’s Advice Before His Departure,” “Uncle Ho’s Sandals,” the medley “Beneath the Glorious Flag – Glorious Homeland,” “Hai Phong, the Land of Sea Gates,” and the song-and-dance performance “Sing of Him – Hai Phong Takes Flight.” Each work expressed the musicians’ reverence and love for Uncle Ho.
With many new arrangements, the “Ho Chi Minh, the Most Beautiful Name” art program not only demonstrated the enduring vitality of songs cherished across generations but also reflected diversity in artistic expression.
Hai Phong – Steadfast steps and the aspiration to rise
Alongside cultural and artistic activities, Hai Phong also organized the exhibition “Engraving Uncle Ho’s Words in Our Hearts: Hai Phong – Faith and the Aspiration to Rise.” The event was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh Museum to commemorate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth, the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong’s liberation as a heroic city (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2025), and the 2025 Red Flamboyant Flower Festival.
The exhibition presented nearly 400 documents, photographs and artifacts, including many valuable materials shown to the public for the first time on the city’s history of struggle, construction and development, and the attention given to Hai Phong by President Ho Chi Minh and Party and State leaders. It awakened deep pride among the city’s people and armed forces, especially the younger generation, providing motivation to continue striving toward development goals in the new era, the era of the nation’s rise.
