On the morning of October 9, at the city’s Convention and Performance Center, the Department of Science and Technology solemnly opened TECHFEST Hai Phong 2025 under the theme “Unlimited innovation – Hai Phong reaches out to the open sea.”
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh and representatives of central ministries, sectors and agencies; countries and international organizations in Vietnam; research institutes, universities, businesses and the innovation-startup community.
Representing Hai Phong were Le Tien Chau, Central Party Committee Member, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of the city’s National Assembly delegation; Do Manh Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Le Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Council; along with members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairpersons of the City People’s Committee, and leaders of relevant departments, sectors and units.
TECHFEST Hai Phong 2025 continues to affirm its role as a signature event in the city’s innovation-startup sector. The event is not only a forum bringing together leading technologies and creative ideas, but also a space for breakthroughs and a platform for bold projects, helping promote sustainable development of the business community and bring Hai Phong into broader international integration.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized that TECHFEST Hai Phong is an annual event that has accompanied the city’s development since 2017. After nine editions, TECHFEST Hai Phong has become not only a place to gather and showcase new technological ideas, products and solutions, but also Hai Phong’s “innovation brand” and a platform connecting ideas, resources and markets, while inspiring confidence, creativity and the aspiration to reach the open sea among young people, intellectuals and the business community.
The Vice Chairman also recalled the guidance of Party and State leaders at the ceremony celebrating National Innovation Day on October 1, 2025. General Secretary To Lam emphasized: “Science, technology and innovation must be the main driving force and key factor in shaping the country’s sustainable development future, closely associated with the absolute leadership of the Party.” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also called on localities to accelerate institutionalization, create the most open mechanisms to mobilize all resources, attract talent and connect with global markets, affirming: “Innovation is not a slogan; it is decisive action and a commitment to stand together, from the Government to local authorities.”
In that spirit, Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong affirmed that this direction must be deeply understood in every activity of TECHFEST Hai Phong. Through the event, the city aims to build a space that brings together knowledge and creativity, laying a foundation to nurture, connect and develop startup ideas into valuable products and services, while serving as a bridge bringing science, technology and innovation into daily life and production and contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh praised Hai Phong’s initiative and determination in holding TECHFEST Hai Phong 2025 in historic October, a month marking many important national milestones. The event was a practical activity celebrating National Innovation Day (October 1), National Digital Transformation Day (October 10) and Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day (October 13).
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the event vividly demonstrated the close connection among innovation, digital transformation and business development, three important pillars of a modern economy. He affirmed that TECHFEST Hai Phong 2025 not only carries the city’s distinctive identity, but also reflects the perseverance, partnership and close links among government, businesses, institutes, universities and the startup community. In this way, TECHFEST Hai Phong has affirmed its position not only as the city’s innovation meeting point, but also as an event of national stature with strong regional reach.
Deputy Minister Hoang Minh also emphasized that TECHFEST Hai Phong 2025 concretely and vividly implements the spirit of the Resolution of the 1st Hai Phong City Party Congress for the 2026–2030 term, helping turn science, technology and innovation into a key driver that propels Hai Phong to new heights and rapid, sustainable development.
TECHFEST Hai Phong 2025 introduced and connected more than 1,000 technology products and innovation solutions from more than 200 domestic and international businesses. It also brought together over 3,000 business representatives, managers, experts and investment funds to participate in and connect through a series of science, technology and innovation events.
Held over three days with 12 thematic events throughout, TECHFEST Hai Phong 2025 attracted thousands of people who registered to attend in person, creating a lively atmosphere and spreading the spirit of innovation widely.
As part of the event, many thematic forums and workshops were organized in direct connection with implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and new technology trends, such as: “Generative AI – Trends in startups and digital economic development” and “Hai Phong – A high-quality human-resources center for the electronics and semiconductor industries”. These strategic themes demonstrate the city’s breakthrough vision for the new term and affirm its determination to make science, technology and innovation a key driver of Hai Phong’s socio-economic development./.
