Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau works with Brno city leaders

Brno is one of the Czech Republic’s most dynamic and important development centres.

On the morning of December 1, Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of the city’s National Assembly Delegation, visited and worked with representatives of the Brno city administration in the Czech Republic.

He was accompanied by Standing Committee members: Le Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee; Dao Trong Duc, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People’s Council; Hoang Quoc Thuong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee for Party Agencies; Colonel Bui Xuan Thang, Commander of the City Military Command; and representatives of several departments, localities and major businesses in Hai Phong.

Marketa, Mayor of Brno, and senior leaders of CTP Group, one of the Czech Republic’s major commercial real estate management and development companies, received and worked with the delegation.

Expressing his sincere thanks to Mayor Marketa for the respectful and thoughtful reception extended to the Hai Phong delegation, City Party Committee Secretary Le Tien Chau said he was pleased to visit and work in Brno, one of the Czech Republic’s most dynamic and important development centres.

The City Party Committee Secretary stressed that Vietnam and the Czech Republic’s official elevation of their relations to a strategic partnership in January 2025 had opened a broad cooperation framework and favourable conditions for substantive cooperation among ministries, sectors, localities and the business communities of the two countries. In this context, Hai Phong highly values the role of localities such as Brno in promoting direct, practical and effective cooperation.

Briefing Mayor Marketa on the city’s socio-economic situation, the Secretary said Hai Phong is making use of its advantage as the largest port city in northern Vietnam, with integrated transport infrastructure covering all five modes, deep-water seaports directly connected to Europe and the Americas, and a modern industrial and logistics network. On this foundation, Hai Phong aims to become an international seaport centre and Vietnam’s centre for green industry and innovation.

In addition, by continuously leading the country in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI), the Public Administration Reform Index (PAR Index) and the Satisfaction Index of Public Administration Services (SIPAS), Hai Phong is affirming a transparent, professional and business-friendly investment environment.

Hai Phong and Brno have considerable room for cooperation, first of all in manufacturing, precision engineering, smart technology, robotics and industrial equipment—areas in which Brno is strong and Hai Phong has high demand.

Brno’s model as a leading Czech centre for science, technology and innovation is also highly consistent with Hai Phong’s strategy of developing R&D centres, innovation and high-tech industrial parks.

Therefore, the City Party Committee Secretary believed that the two cities could cooperate deeply in research and development, technology transfer, links among research institutes, universities and businesses, and exchanges of experts and students.

In energy and green transformation, Hai Phong is prioritising industrial emissions reduction, renewable energy development and energy efficiency. Brno’s experience in urban energy management and sustainable industrial transformation will be a highly practical area of cooperation in the coming period.

For its part, Hai Phong’s outstanding trade and logistics connectivity could make it a gateway for Brno businesses to access the Vietnamese and ASEAN markets, while the connection between Hai Phong’s deep-water seaports and Europe’s transport network would shorten the time and cost of transporting goods.

The City Party Committee Secretary expressed his confidence and hope that Brno would support business-matching activities, working delegations, specialised seminars and market surveys. Hai Phong is ready to be a proactive, effective and open partner in implementing specific cooperation initiatives between the two cities.

Hai Phong hopes Brno will soon promote a twinning initiative between Hai Phong and a Czech locality and support the idea of bringing the Hai Phong commercial centre in the Czech Republic into operation soon.

On the same day, the delegation conducted field surveys of several industrial park models invested in by CTP Group.
