(HPĐT)- With 985 valid foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, Hai Phong is a bright spot in attracting investment nationwide and is a destination highly appreciated by the domestic and foreign business community. However, to promote the localization of FDI enterprise products and participate in the global supply chain, the business community hopes that the city will continue to promote investment and business connection activities between FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises in the city.

Looking forward to more opportunities to connect
Attending the investment and business connection conference organized by the Department of Planning and Investment last April, Mr. Wang Xin Ping, Chairman of Lucky HongKong Industrial Group (China) highly appreciated the city's investment and business environment, especially investment and business connection activities for enterprises. Mr. Wang Xin Ping hopes that Hai Phong city will organize more investment promotion conferences so that enterprises have the opportunity to learn and invest in the city. According to Mr. Xu Cheng Wei, Deputy General Director of Aroma Bay Candles Co., Ltd., the city focuses on investment and business connection activities between FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises to create opportunities for enterprises to participate in the global supply chain. "As a foreign enterprise investing in Hai Phong, for more than 4 years, we want to find opportunities to connect investment and business with Vietnamese enterprises in the fields of raw materials and some other fields to reduce input costs. Therefore, I hope to participate in many investment connection conferences or similar programs to meet and exchange with partners; or the city supports businesses to connect with Vietnamese businesses in the same field to share experiences and cooperate in investment" - Mr. Xu Cheng Wei informed.
Not only the two enterprises mentioned above, through the synthesis of opinions of enterprises at the recent meeting and dialogue between the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and FDI enterprises, it can be seen that many enterprises wish to find opportunities to connect investment and business with Vietnamese enterprises, especially in the fields of raw materials, spare parts, education and training and supply of labor resources, transportation - logistics services, precision mechanical processing services, construction and providing accommodation services for experts and workers. Enterprises hope that the city will create conditions as well as have solutions to help FDI enterprises connect with domestic enterprises in the above fields. This contributes to the sustainable development of foreign enterprises, ensuring a stable supply chain, maintaining a high number of skilled workers and laborers to complete their work, and ensuring the lives of workers and experts.
Diversify connection forms
In fact, in recent times, the city's departments, branches, sectors and localities have regularly organized investment and business connection programs between enterprises, including FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises in the city. These activities have been highly appreciated by the FDI and domestic business community, including connection activities of the HAI PHONG ECONOMIC ZONE AUTHORITY, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Planning and Investment... However, from the production and business activities of enterprises in the area, it can be seen that the connection between FDI enterprises and domestic suppliers and partners has not yet met expectations; the localization rate of industrial products has not yet met requirements; the formation of research and technology transfer centers is still quite limited.
Faced with the above reality as well as the proposals of enterprises, the city directed departments, branches, sectors and localities to continue to strengthen investment and business connection activities in the area, including connecting FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises to help enterprises reduce production costs, increase the localization rate of FDI enterprise products and promote domestic enterprises to participate in the global supply chain. At the meeting and dialogue with FDI enterprises, the city leaders affirmed that the city will pay attention, support and create the highest conditions for FDI enterprises to effectively build domestic supply chains, increase the localization rate and value of products produced in the city; link, cooperate, order training and employ workers with the city's training facilities... To specify the direction of the city, departments, branches and sectors develop specific plans and solutions. According to Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Tran Thi Hai Yen, the Department continues to coordinate with departments, branches, sectors, and units to organize connection activities based on the needs and registrations of enterprises in each field. Information from the Department of Industry and Trade, in the first 9 months of 2024, the Department organized more than 10 connection and trade promotion programs combined with domestic and foreign investment promotion. For connections in the field of industry and logistics, in the city there are Hai Phong Logistics Association, Hai Phong City Industrial Development Support Association, Hai Phong Mechanical Association, etc. Enterprises can choose to join the above associations to update information, exchange, and connect with enterprises in each field. However, enterprises also need to improve their initiative, maintain close contact with departments and sectors to have timely information about connection and trade promotion programs.
