ROAD

HANOI - HAI PHONG - QUANG NINH HIGHWAY

This is the key transport chain linking three major economic, political and tourist centers of northern Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh.

Coastal highway

This expressway has contributed to perfecting the traffic infrastructure of the coastal expressway in the Northern coastal region and the Red River Delta.

Road and Bridge system connects provinces

During the period 2015-2020, Hai Phong built about 45 bridges; Among them, the most typical is the Tan Vu - Lach Huyen sea crossing bridge with a length of about 16km including the path.

Road system

To meet today's rapid development requirements, the city's road system is constantly being expanded, upgraded and improved even more strongly.

RAIL

Hai Phong city railway planning for the period 2021 - 2030

• Research to build the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong electrified railway line 380 km long, 1.435 mm gauge and the Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh coastal railway line 120km long, 1.335 mm gauge

• Construction of a new railway connecting Lach Huyen and Dinh Vu ports, 99,7 km long, 1.435 mm gauge.

SEA ROAD

• Currently, Hai Phong's seaport system is always strongly promoted. Since 2019, Lach Huyen deep-water port has officially been put into operation.

• Currently, the representative of Tan Cang Hai Phong International Container Port (TC – HITC), the first unit to operate 2 berths at Lach Huyen deep-water port, assesses that this is a milestone marking the number 1 seaport in the Northern region next receiving large-tonnage ships with a carrying capacity of 12.000 TEU and a tonnage of 132.000 DTW to transport import-export goods from the Northern regions directly to Europe and America instead of having to transit through another port as before.

INLAND WATERWAYS

• Inland waterway transport activities are an important link in Hai Phong's logistics development.

Inland waterways connecting Hai Phong port area include 5 main routes. Notably, barges with a tonnage of 128 Teus can now operate smoothly with a total route length of about 120km from Hai Phong seaport through the Cam River - Kinh Thay River - Thai Binh River - Duong River to the dry port - ICD Tan Cang Que Vo.

• With the advantage of having an inland waterway network nearly 2.700km long, accounting for about 40% of the total length of inland waterways in the country, and the newly implemented fee reduction decision, many logistics experts expect Hai Phong to expand revenue. Attracting containerized goods by waterway reduces the load on road transport.
